Sardinia Yacht Charter – Itinerary

The Emerald Coast, which runs for 35 miles along the island of Sardinia’s northeast shoreline of this large island, lies in the Mediterranean, just south of Corsica and west of central Italy.  It has become a regular summer stopover for the international jet set.  The beautiful people who now frequent Sardinia’s chic hotels, private villas and yachts, and gorgeous sandy beaches are outshone only by the glittering, crystal blue sea that washes the rocky coast.  Grab your swimsuit and dive into the turquoise water from any of the fine beaches or rocky coves, or even better from a boat you have chartered from Taylor’d Yacht Charters in one of the hundreds of secluded inlets.  You will quickly understand what makes the Emerald Coast so magical.  It has the cleanest, clearest water this side of the Caribbean or Hawaii.

Suggested itinerary for a one week Golf cruise in the Western Mediterranean, from Cala di Volpe, Sardinia to Cannes, France:

Day 1.  Upon arrival at Olbia airport, you will be welcomed by a crew member that will take you to Porto Cervo on Sardinia‘s rugged Costa Smeralda eastern shore.  Hop on board your chartered yacht from Taylor’d Yacht Charters for a short Cruise to the beautiful Cala di Volpe in the afternoon.

Day 2.  Play at the Famous Pevero Golf Club.  Tee off at 10:00 AM.  It is generally recognized that the Pevero GoIf Club has one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world.  It is an 18 hole course, designed by Robert Trent-Jones, and is situated in a very special location.  The golf course spreads from Cala di Volpe up to the Pevero Bay, giving it beautiful sea views.  There are sea views from every hole, and the Mediterranean indeed offers a panoramic backdrop to a layout that sets a real challenge for players, a challenge which is dotted with water hazards and cavernous bunkers.  After your golf game it is time for dinner on board your Taylor’d Yacht Charters yacht.

Day 3.  There is a morning cruise to Bonifacio, Corsica.  Tee time is at 11:00 AM.  The Sperone Golf club is located in Corsica, at the very southern tip of the island near Bonifacio.  You will enjoy unique scenery and a direct view of the Mediterranean Sea from this 18 hole golf course.

Day 4.  Daycruise towards Calvi with stops along the coast for a swim and lunch.  Alternatively you could overnight cruise directly to Monaco where your tee off time will be at the Monte Carlo Golf Club.  The actual course is a picture of sobriety and luxury.  You play here in an almost family atmosphere.  This club is not just a place to see and be seen.  In recent years the course has undergone all sorts of refurbishing to make it longer and wider, but the layout remains very much the same as that built by Willie Park almost a century ago.

Day 5.  There is an early morning departure for Cannes.  Tee time at the Royal Mougins Club is booked for 11:00 AM.  Located a short 15 minutes away from the bustling town of Cannes, Royal Mougins is ranked among the Top 100 Courses of the World and as one of the best 5 courses in France.  This is one of those irresistibly handsome layouts that just begs to be played, and the experience will be rewarding for even the most jaded golf travelers.  The European PGA Tour has considered it good enough to host the prestigious Cannes Open.

Day 6.  Another day in Cannes, and tee time at the Cannes Mougins Country Club is set for 10:00 AM.  It is definitely one of those golf clubs that have a soul.  A monumental entrance with a stone gateway stands guard over the place.  Unusual strengh emanates from this former oil mill, built in the 17th century, and now restored with a deep respect for Provencal architecture.  You walk past the starter’s booth,  and there’s the course, stretching out in all its superb immensity.

Sardinia Yacht Charter – Itinerary – Day 7.  The Captain will make sure that your departure from your yacht is organized, normally around 12:00 PM.  If you wish to be taken to the airport by helicopter from Cannes, just let him know, and he will be happy to arrange it.
