BASTILLE DAY CELEBRATIONS

Whether you call it Le Quatorze Juillet or La Fete Nationale, Bastille Day celebrations are a big deal in Paris and throughout France.  On July 14, 1789,  the Bastille fortress  was stormed by Revolutionaries who believed countrymen were imprisoned unjustly by Louis XVI. There’s no better way to celebrate Bastille Day in Paris than a cruise on the Seine or on the French Riviera. This holiday is celebrated throughout France and the world at large with cries of “Vive le 14 Juillet!”

If you are in France today, enjoy great fireworks. The best place to see it is always at anchor somewhere close to a big port like Monaco or Cannes. There will be more fireworks all summer on the French and Italian Rivieras as well as other Mediterranean countries.
